Sanitarian of the Year Award

Purpose

To recognize an individual who has in the past year:

  • Made a contribution above and beyond that usually made by a participating member of the association; or
  • Made a contribution of significant impact on the growth and progress of the association; or
  • Made a significant impact on the profession and/or the promotion of health in the state, the nation, or the world

Criteria

  • Nominee need not have current OEHA membership but must be a Registered Sanitarian or Sanitarian Trainee.
  • Nominee must have:

    Demonstrated leadership in and contributed to furthering the purpose and functions of OEHA above and beyond that of a participating member; or

    Contributed significantly to the growth and progress of OEHA; or

    Impacted significantly the profession and/or the promotion of health in the state, the nation, or the world.

 

Verne Reirson Meritorious Service Award

Purpose

To recognize an individual who has over a number of years:

  • Made a contribution above and beyond that usually made by a participating member of the association; or
  • Made a contribution of significant impact on the growth and progress of the association; or
  • Made a significant impact on the profession and/or the promotion of health in the state, the nation, or the world.

Criteria

  • Nominee need not have current OEHA membership.
  • Nominee must have:

    Demonstrated leadership in and contributed to furthering the purpose and functions of OEHA above and beyond that of a participating member; or

    Contributed significantly to the growth and progress of OEHA; or

    Impacted significantly the profession and/or the promotion of health in the state, the nation, or the world.

 

Ci Sherman Legislative Award

Purpose

To recognize an individual who has in the past year:

  • Made a contribution to the profession or the association through the legislative or a related process above and beyond that usually made by participating member of the association; or
  • Made a non-job related contribution of significant impact on the growth and progress of the association or the profession; or
  • Made a significant impact on the promotion of the profession in the state, the nation, or the world.

Criteria

  • Nominee need not have current OEHA membership.
  • Nominee must have:

    Demonstrated leadership in and contributed to the advancement of the profession or the association through the legislative or a related process; or

    Impacted significantly the advancement of the profession or the association through a non-job related activity.

 

Ray Ruff Editorial Award

Purpose

To recognize an individual who has in the past year:

  • Made a contribution to the Oregon Journal of Environmental Health and the Oregon Environmental Health Association Newsletter above and beyond that usually made by participating member of the association; or
  • Made a contribution of significant impact on the dispersal of public health and/or environmental health educational materials, resulting in a greater public understanding of public and environmental health issues.

Criteria

  • Nominee need not have current OEHA membership.
  • Nominee must have:

    Demonstrated leadership in the use of the Oregon Journal of Environmental Health and the Oregon Environmental Health Association Newsletter to share public and/or environmental health issues, advancements and concepts with the membership and the general public; or

    Impacted significantly the spread of public and/or environmental health education in the state, the nation, or the world.
